The Apon Ghar Scheme 2024, introduced by the Government of Assam offers enhanced benefits to make homeownership more accessible for state government employees. The scheme has increased the home loan limit to ₹30 lakhs, with no mortgage required unless the repayment period extends beyond the age of 70. It also provides a 1% interest subsidy for eligible employees, valid from April 1, 2024, to March 31, 2026. The initiative is supported by the State Bank of India through a formal MoU and is open to all RBI-recognized scheduled commercial banks, regional rural banks, and the Assam Cooperative Apex Bank.
