Royal Global University (RGU) unveiled a life-size statue of legendary Assamese musician Zubeen Garg on its campus, honouring his enduring impact on Assam’s cultural and social landscape.

The statue was inaugurated by eminent poet and scholar Pradip Acharya in the presence of Chancellor Dr. A.K. Pansari, Vice Chancellor Prof. A.K. Buragohain, senior faculty members, sculptor Lakhyajit Bora, and Zubeen Garg’s sister Dr. Palme Borthakur, along with guests, faculty, staff, and students.

Prof. Acharya hailed Zubeen Garg as a powerful blend of art, conscience, and courage, praising RGU’s initiative to preserve cultural memory through art. The programme included musical tributes by Sanjeev Rabha and Susanta Chowdhury.

The statue now stands as a lasting cultural landmark at RGU, reflecting the university’s commitment to celebrating Assam’s heritage and inspiring future generations.
